Tonight, I watched a movie (for the 2nd time) that not only hit on a sore subject with me, but was quite comical in more ways than one. You see, The Other Woman was about infidelity. And in my opinion, they hit the nail on the head when it came to the gruelling details of this rather, all too familiar word.
The charismatic, attractive, fun-loving adulterer who knows how to spin a web of lies so perfectly, while making their spouse feel so loved and yet so, “crazy” at the same time. The one major difference in this movie from the “movie” I am so familiar with, was the “mistresses” didn’t know they were sleeping with a married man. The mistress who casted herself in a real-life “movie” knew the whole family and acted like a, “best friend”.
Can I say, “Oscar winning”?
So, what made this comedy tickle my funny bone even more? The fact that I was able to sit and watch the movie, laughing hysterically, knowing that the two people who think they “are sole mates”, are actually living in a fantasy filled with lies, deceit and a lifetime of internal guilt. They both chose to throw away all the wonderful things about marriage and family that make it great and hard at the same time. Instead, they date without commitment, distraction of little children, hardships of daily routine and the excitement of one big secret that is too ugly to expose. Yup, the furthest thing from reality.
Two movies on the same subject. Oscar winning performances throughout. And me, having the last laugh at the end of the show.
