If you don’t follow The Possessionista on Twitter . . . you should! If you haven’t read her blog, you must! And, while you are there, be sure to bookmark it! I personally came across Dana Weiss through the wonderful world of Twitter. Since I think it’s fair to say that we are both reality show “obsessed”, I thankfully came across her tweets, and have been a loyal follower ever since.
So, what’s so special about Dana? Well, she’s witty, funny, sarcastic at times, real . . . and the girl, KNOWS her fashion! Also, If you follow her tweets during some of our favorite reality shows, her commentary is priceless!
The whole idea behind her blog, “The Possessionista”, is to find the fashion we love on television and provide all the great details to the viewers. That’s right. Let’s say you love something worn by Emily Maynard, from the Bachelor . . . Dana will have the “deats” on her website by the next day! Yes ladies . . . she’s that good! And, if she can’t find the exact outfit . . . she will find something very similar. I love that!
With that said, I was interested in learning more about the girl behind the funny, must-follow tweets. So, I contacted her and she was kind enough to answer some questions for this Shopgirl.
Besides being funny, a fashionista and an entertaining blogger, tell us a little more about yourself?
Um, I’m a couch potato, I love tv and shopping. I think starting Possessionista was a little like finding your soulmate. You know monetizing something you love. Ew, I kind of sound like a golddigger, huh?
When did you launch the Possessionista?
In January of 2009, It was really an accident. I was just documenting the clothes I saw on TV and the things I wanted to buy, but didn’t. At the time, no one was really tracking Reality TV fashion, and so when they started Google-ing Jillian Harris fashions, I was lucky enough to be on their search engine.
What made you decide to focus on celebrity fashion finds for your blog?
I write about what I love and that’s what I love. Seeing pretty people in pretty clothes.
Without giving away any of your secrets, how are you able to find the fabulous fashion we see on television, so quickly?
I shop. A lot. So a lot of times I recognize things on sight. But truthfully 80% of my information comes from the relationships I’ve built with stylists and publicists. Oh, and my readers are so amazing. They know so much more than me.
As far as fashion goes, who would you say is your fashion idol from television or movies?
I really adore Jillian Harris. She has amazing personal style. She just dresses like herself. Obviously I love Reese Witherspoon, Taylor Swift, Nicole Richie. But these people have stylists and tons of money. Jillian shops at Forever 21 and makes it look couture.
When you are not busy tweeting, scoping the fashion cyber world and writing your blog, what are you most likely doing?
Ahhhh . . . my dirty little secret is that I’m a mom to the two most adorable little boys. I’m a wife and a dog owner. So in my alter ego, I’m usually driving carpool or making beds.
Ok, so we all know you are a reality show, “junkie” like us. We also know you are watching the Bachelor each week. So, who do you hope gets the, “final rose”?
I get really torn up over this question because the person I, “like” isn’t necessarily the right person for Brad. Sometimes we forget that there isn’t really a prize in this show – it’s just life after the show. So I hope Brad picks the right person for him, whoever she may be. But, I really, really hope Emily gets a gig on a talk show after this, because she and I are so not done talking about fashion!
When the Bachelor ends, what show will we next finding you “tweeting” about?
Thank goodness for American Idol, right? Um, Glee 90210, Entourage is coming back, Bethenny Ever After, and maybe adding some new shows.
What is your biggest pet peeve?
Just one? People buy clothes, wear them and then return them. Oh, and people who say Nu-CU-lar. Passing off fake handbags as the real thing.
If you could choose any reality tv star, who would be one person you would want to grab a cup of coffee with?
Bethenny Frankel. She is smart and self-aware. She’s not perfect and doesn’t pretend to be. I love how empowered and insecure she is at the same time. And, I’m fascinated by her jaw. I’d like to see it in person.
So there you go ladies . . . now you MUST head on over to her blog to learn more about,
