I know I wasn’t the only one last week who was bombarded with Facebook updates on the Starbucks Unicorn drink. You can definitely say that it was a, “hot topic” on social media. Yes, Starbucks gets an A+ for gaining free publicity. However, was I only the one who had zero interest in trying this pretty, new drink? I don’t think so. And, although Starbucks may have scored high in free publicity; the drink itself got mixed reviews.
From the unicorn emoji to the Starbucks unicorn drink, girls of all ages are obsessing over this, one-horned horse. I wonder why this is? Maybe, it’s because girls love the beauty of horses, fairy tales and sparkly things. Or, maybe unicorns bring us back to that time of innocence and fairy tale endings.
Sitting here with my 5-year-old little girl, I could only wish to keep her at this magical and stress-free age. This is the age in which seeing rainbows and believing in unicorns are a couple of the only things, “weighing” on her mind.
As we get older, our thoughts and dreams become more about reality, and less about fairy tales. We become so overwhelmed with the stresses of life; we forget to enjoy the moments that are a different type of, “magical”. Although we understand that life is not all about rainbows and butterflies, we also need to understand that we are in charge of creating our own, happy endings and magical moments. These magical moments are about embracing family, life changes, friendships and finding our life purpose.
As adults, we may not believe in unicorns. Or, maybe we do. Whatever our beliefs may be, we can still appreciate the beauty and characteristics of this imaginary creature. I guess this is why so many people ran to Starbucks for the unicorn drink. We are all little girls at heart with magical dreams and hopes for a fairy tale kinda life.
With all that said, I couldn’t help but find what other unicorn-inspired goodies were out there. If you are a unicorn-lovin’ lady, you may want to save your money (and calorie intake) on the Starbucks unicorn drink and check out these finds.
