I hate to admit this, but, I’ve added another show to my list of “must-see” reality shows. You see, I’ve come to realize that working out while watching Bravo, actually makes my workout, fun. I get to catch up on some of my guilty pleasures, while burning some calories on the elliptical machine at the gym. It’s such a win-win for me. There are a lot of fabulous ladies to catch on this series, but Landon Clements just has to be my favorite boho chick of Charleston, South Carolina.
With that said, I recently discovered my new favorite Monday night show, Southern Charm. And, since I apparently somehow missed last season, I caught myself up on past episodes and I’m now officially, hooked. Not only do I just love Charleston, but I especially love the drama, lifestyles and fashion that makeup the show. It’s quite entertaining, to say the least.
Anyone that has read my blog in the past (prior to my blog makeover) knows that I love to reach out and get to know some of my favorite reality stars just a little bit better. By the power of social media and some really fabulous down-to-earth ladies, I get to find out a little more about the gals behind the show, on a more personal level.
Southern Charm’s Landon Clements was someone I knew I wanted to reach out to. Her boho style, obvious strength and class was the perfect fit for Styled Arrow. I consider myself a very good judge of character, and well, I just wanted to get to know Landon a little bit better. And lucky you, now you get to know this sweet southern girl better, too!
Q & A Time With Landon Clements
SA: In 3 words, how would you describe yourself?
Landon: Fun Loving, Carefree
SA: What is your overall style?
Landon: My overall style is very eclectic. Most of my wardrobe comes from my travels. I am always on the lookout for interesting pieces that carry a story with them. It might be that they are from far away lands or simply made from high quality material.
SA: Watching the show, it was very obvious that divorce was a difficult decision for you. What made you decide that it was the best choice for you?
Landon: I did a lot of soul-searching when I started to consider divorce as a possibility for me. In the end, you have to realize that this is your life and only you can make yourself happy. It took a long time to get free, but it was worth the struggle.
SA: If you could pick 3 characteristics of your dream husband, what would they be?
Landon: The thought of going down that road again is very scary for me, so I am concentrating on myself right now. The things that were lacking in my marriage were kindness and compassion, so really, that would be the first step. If I ever do get remarried, I just want them to be my best friend.
SA: Are you in a relationship now? If so, care to share the details?
Landon: I am not in a relationship right now. Charleston is a very small town so it is sort of hard to date around. I have some really great friends and my is family here, so I have been spending my free time with them. It’s not that I am opposed to a boyfriend, I just haven’t met anyone who even comes close to what I want and need from a lover.
SA: How would you describe your relationship with the other cast members of Southern Charm?
Landon: We are basically a big dysfunctional family. I love them all so much. Shep and Craig are like the brothers I never had and are actually quite protective of me. It’s really sweet and endearing. Whitney and Patricia are amazing and I love bouncing ideas off of them. Artistically we speak the same language. Thomas is great for business advice. I have been getting back in to real estate and development and he literally knows everyone. So, anytime I need anything he says, “call”. He’s an invaluable resource and he has the most beautiful collection of polo ponies that I have ever seen. I could live in his barn! The girls are all a blast, too. Cameran, Kathryn, Jennifer and I always have a great time together. They have been so sweet and supportive since I moved back. I am so thankful to have them in my life and to be on this crazy ride with them.
SA: Where do you hope to see yourself in the next 3 years?
Landon: In the next three years I hope I am able to get a boutique hotel going in Charleston so we can invite the world to come and play with us.
SA: Do you believe in marriage and “happily ever after”?
Landon: I have always believed in happily ever after, but now I’m not sure that marriage has to be the key component. Thomas once told me, “Marriage is a partnership in the business life.” I think the biggest problem in my marriage was that my husband was not my partner. Find your partner and you will create happiness together whether you have a marriage license of not.
SA: Do you have a favorite skin care or makeup product that you can’t live without?
Landon: I am currently obsessed with Beauty Counter. My good friend Christi Hucks turned me on to them. The company is creating products without all the chemicals and terrible things that a lot of cosmetic companies use. It makes me happy knowing that people actually care about the environment and are holding themselves accountable to a higher standard than the government regulates. I also love Chanel loose powder and Rosebud Salve. I put it on everything!
SA: What advice would you give to other women who are in an unhappy marriage?
Landon: Read the book, “This is how, surviving what you think you can’t” by Augusten Burroughs. The overall message of the book is to not feel sorry for yourself. “This is how you survive the unsurvivable, this is how you lose that which you cannot bear to lose, this is how you reinvent yourself, overcome our abusers, fulfill YOUR ambitions and meet the love of your life: by following what is true, now matter where it leads you.”
Thank you Landon for taking the time to share a little bit of your life with Styled Arrow. We wish you lots of luck and years of happiness!
